The subscriber tax

Your list has ghosts. You're paying rent on them.

Every list has readers who stopped opening. Per-subscriber pricing charges you for each one, every month, and keeps mailing them, which drags your emails toward spam for everyone else.

Field notes, issue #42

Hi {{first_name|there}},

Every week I try the tools people send me and keep only what earns its place. This week, three made the cut.

Deliverability

The inbox, on autopilot.

Five safeguards run on every send, on by default. Each account sends on its own, so nobody else's mistakes land on you.

  1. Clean01

    Bad addresses never get in

Typos like gmial.com, spam traps, throwaway inboxes and dead domains are left out of imports and signups.

  2. Sign02

    Your emails prove they're yours

DKIM, SPF and DMARC on every email. On your own domain, we hand you the records and check each one.

  3. Warm up03

New contacts go in a small batch

5% first. The rest follows 3 hours later, only if bounces and complaints stay low.

  4. Guard04

    Bad sends stop themselves

A send pauses past 2% bounces or 0.08% spam complaints, before your reputation pays for it.

  5. Prune05

    Ghosts get one last email

Readers who stopped opening get a “still want this?” email, then stop getting issues.

More than 2,000,000 emails a month? Talk to us

Questions, answered.

Something else? hello@lowsend.com

How do you keep my emails out of spam?

Your emails are authenticated with DKIM, SPF and DMARC. New senders start slow and earn their speed with clean sends, new contacts get a small first batch, and readers who stopped opening get one last email before they stop getting issues. A send pauses on its own if too many emails bounce or get marked as spam.

Why do you charge per email and not per subscriber?

Because sending is what costs money; storing a subscriber costs almost nothing. Per-subscriber pricing makes you pay for people who stopped reading, and keeping them hurts your deliverability. lowsend cleans them out by default and doesn't charge you for them.

How does it work with my AI agent?

Connect lowsend in ChatGPT, Claude or Grok with your sign-in, or add it to Claude Code, Cursor or Codex with an API key. Your agent can write drafts, send you tests, schedule issues and read your stats. Sending to your list can't be undone, so your agent asks you first.

Can I bring my list from beehiiv, Substack or Mailchimp?

Yes. Export your subscribers as a CSV and import it on the Contacts page. lowsend reads each platform's columns and statuses, keeps signup dates, and leaves out duplicates, invalid addresses and people who unsubscribed.

Do I need my own domain?

No. You can send from hello@your-newsletter.lowsend.com, with your website at your-newsletter.lowsend.com. Add your own domain anytime and your emails move to it.

What happens if I go over my plan?

Signups keep working and confirmation emails still go out. New sends wait until you upgrade or your next month starts. Once the month's emails are used up, welcome emails pause too.

Is there a free trial?

No. Plans start at $19 a month and you can cancel anytime.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, from the billing page. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. Your data stays, and everything comes back if you subscribe again.

Bring your list. Keep the difference.

From $19 a month for 20,000 emails. Every feature, every plan.
